Real Madrid has reportedly taken steps to get back together with former Bernabeu star Theo Hernandez, who is expected to depart AC Milan at the end of the current campaign, in an effort to strengthen their left-back position this summer.
As Real prepares to fire Carlo Ancelotti, Florentino Perez is also anticipated to make improvements in a number of Real’s squad areas where they have fallen short this season. Change is imminent at The Bernabeu this summer.
The front-runner to replace him at right-back is still Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, as his free transfer from Merseyside to Madrid draws closer.
On the other side, though, Real Madrid is still evaluating a number of options because Ferland Mendy is still dealing with injuries, and Bernabeu transfer managers believe Fran Garcia needs to be upgraded.
In addition to Milan ace Hernandez, the La Liga powerhouses are rumored to be keeping an eye on Alvaro Carreras of Benfica, Miguel Gutierrez of Girona, and Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth after missing out on top target Alphonso Davies, who ultimately decided to extend his stay at Bayern Munich.

According to Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid may try to sign the left-back this summer by taking advantage of his contract status. Hernandez’s current Milan contract expires in 2026, and negotiations to extend it have not gone anywhere.
The Santiago Bernabeu is about to undergo a transformation as Carlo Ancelotti prepares to leave and Florentino Perez needs to make investments in a number of squad areas. Next season, Madrid may start Trent Alexander-Arnold at full-back, and they are evaluating a number of alternatives on the opposing side. Although Ferland Mendy is a good left-back when he is available, he has experienced injury setbacks once more this season, and the team feels that Fran Garcia may be improved.
Hernandez’s predicted departure is also probably influenced by the fact that Milan, who are currently in ninth place in Serie A, are not likely to qualify for the Champions League the following season.
