Leny Yoro’s decision to go with Manchester United rather than Real Madrid has had a significant influence on the plans of the Spanish giants. Real Madrid is reportedly considering its defense alternatives now that Yoro is out of the picture. One intriguing option is turning Aurelien Tchouameni, who played center back a lot last season, into a full-time center back. This is according to Mundo Deportivo.

Real Madrid is looking at a number of options to strengthen their defense as Yoro moves to Manchester United. Aymeric Laporte is the most recent contender to surface. He recently wrapped up a fantastic Euro Cup with the Spanish national team and is currently a player for Al Nassr.

Tchouameni will be ready to take the hit

Tchouameni has frequently said that he prefers to play as a pivot, but he has also said that he is willing to play center back if the coach or the squad decides so. Ancelotti has openly expressed his belief that the Frenchman has what it takes to succeed in this position and that he may have a lengthy and fruitful career at Real Madrid in either a pivotal or a center-back role.

Tchouameni will probably continue to be Ancelotti’s backup center-back this season if Real Madrid decides against going after a specialized center-back in the transfer market. It’s still unclear which strategy Real Madrid will employ. That they must sign someone is a given. Last season, they might have made it through with two (or perhaps just one) healthy center backs for extended stretches of play, but this time, that gamble should not be made.
