Carlo Ancelotti confident Karim Benzema's injury isn't serious

Benzema can miss the next encounter as he will be in the recovery phase.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is confident that Karim Benzema’s injury isn’t serious after the victory at Celtic.

Real won their Champions League group opener 3-0 in Glasgow, though Benzema limped off in the first-half.

The Frenchman headed straight for the dressing room after 30 minutes in what is a worrying sign for Los Blancos.

But, Ancelotti said later: “It doesn’t seem to be serious. We’ll wait for tomorrow but early signs imply it’s nothing to worry about. We have to wait until tomorrow.

“It’s unclear whether it’s a muscle issue or if it’s his knee”.

Karim Benzema was instrumental in Real Madrid’s Champions League triumph last season. He also won the La Liga title in 2021/22. His fitness is also important for France ahead of FIFA World Cup.
