As Jurgen Klopp and company travel to Madrid, the outcome places Ancelotti’s team in a strong position to advance to the quarterfinals, but the veteran Italian coach is not taking anything for granted.
Last season, in order to defeat Liverpool in Paris, his side had to work extremely hard in their knockout Champions League games. Ancelotti hopes to prevent a dramatic repeat of when they blew a 3-1 first-leg advantage over Chelsea in the last eight, with Karim Benzema’s late goal ultimately giving them the victory.

We have the upper hand, but we can’t even consider managing the game; we need to perform at our best for the full 90 minutes.
Ancelotti suggested that his team had no new injury worries following their 3-1 La Liga victory over Espanyol, which helped them overnight narrow the championship gap to six points over Barcelona. After being benched against the Catalans, Benzema is expected to start today, and Ancelotti plans to rotate his middle.
