Carlo Ancelotti is under a lot of criticism as a result of Eden Hazard’s performance against fourth-tier team Cacereno
The Italian manager honoured his promise and gave the Belgian player an opportunity, but it turned out that the forward fell short of expectations and played for just 68 minutes.
The 31-year-old had the fewest touches of any Real Madrid forward, managed just 24 touches, had no attempts at goal, dropped the ball five times, and tried zero dribbles. Any manager would be alarmed by these numbers, and Ancelotti is no exception. Despite the busy schedule this month, the manager believed he could rely on the player, but the player has only let down the boss.
The 31-year-touches old’s against Cacereno were primarily on the left side of the field, and nearly all of them occurred outside the penalty area. After being replaced by Hazard, Rodrygo moved to the left, and it only took him a minute to give his team the victory.
Interestingly, Ancelotti did not criticise Hazard much in his post-game remarks, but he minced no words on the condition of the field. Although Hazard’s current Real Madrid deal is valid until 2024, it is more likely that he would depart the club earlier. In fact, it is widely believed that he will be bought and sold this summer.
One can infer that it will be the last throw of the dice based on his performance versus the fourth-tier Spanish football team.
