As the summer transfer window edges toward its closing date, speculation continues to swirl around several Real Madrid players.
Why Mourinho Refuses to Let Brahim Diaz Leave Real Madrid This Summer
While Vinicius Junior, Eduardo Camavinga and Franco Mastantuono have all been linked with potential exits, one name that appears destined to remain at the Bernabeu is Brahim Diaz.
The Morocco international has attracted serious interest from Juventus, who are keen to bring him back to Italy following his successful three-year spell with AC Milan.
With Bernardo Silva already signed and Yan Diomande expected to arrive shortly, Brahim’s place in the attacking pecking order has come under increased scrutiny.
However, according to Diario AS, head coach Jose Mourinho is counting on the 27-year-old for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
Despite the fierce competition from Silva, Diomande, Rodrygo and Endrick, Mourinho views Brahim as an important squad player.
The Portuguese coach values Brahim’s tactical intelligence, versatility and willingness to sacrifice for the team.
Whether operating centrally, on either wing or as a second striker, the Moroccan offers the kind of flexibility that fits perfectly with Mourinho’s tactical approach.
Spanish outlet AS reports that Mourinho sees clear similarities between Brahim and Bernardo Silva, with both capable of filling multiple roles across the attacking line.
Brahim has shown no desire to leave Real Madrid. The club reached an agreement last season to extend his contract until 2030, though the official announcement is still pending.
His recent comments to Real Madrid TV reflect a player fully invested in the project under Mourinho:
“It’s going very well because both he and his staff are very well-prepared. We already know what Mourinho is, everything he has won, and we want to keep winning with him”.
The attacking midfielder also revealed Mourinho’s key message to the squad: “He tells us to be intense, that we have a lot of individual quality and that we can make the difference, but in the end, hard work is super important”
With 20 goals and 22 assists in 142 appearances for Real Madrid many of which came as a substitute Brahim has earned the right to decide his own future.
