Kylian Mbappe’s hamstring injury sustained during the Champions League encounter against Atalanta continues to cast doubt on his ability to play in the Intercontinental Cup. In spite of this injury, Carlo Ancelotti does not rule out the French striker playing in the game. A player that sustains an injury of this severity would miss the game for ten days. Kylian Mbappe’s injury is not life-threatening, though, and he could be able to recuperate before the game.

Carlo Ancelotti stated at a press conference that Kylian’s situation is not critical and that he would not be present tomorrow. Instead, he will travel to Qatar, where we will assess the danger. Even if he might not start the Intercontinental Cup game because of his remarks, Kylian Mbappe might still play a few minutes. The Frenchman might also be able to return to the game after a full recovery. He will accompany the team to Qatar; that much is certain. Kylian Mbappé is still eligible to play, so supporters can relax.

Carlo Ancelotti reveals Kylian Mbappe injury isn’t very serious

“Mbappe isn’t anything very serious,” Ancelotti stated Friday when providing an update on the striker’s health. “He won’t be there for the match [against Raya tomorrow]; he’ll travel to Qatar and see if he can play part of the [Intercontinental Cup final] without risk.”

Mbappe’s career with Los Blancos started slowly, but he has scored in his past two games against Girona and Atalanta, indicating that his form has gradually started to pick up speed. The forward has already experienced two muscle issues since joining the Spanish powerhouses. In September, he was out for three weeks due to a hamstring issue.
