Toni Kroos is expected to renew his contract soon.

The 32-year-old midfielder’s current deal with Real Madrid expires next summer and there has been a lot of speculation surrounding his future.

He is heavily linked with a move to Manchester City as Kroos would be allowed to talk to interested parties at the start of 2023.

Carlo Ancelotti tells it is up to the German whether he wants to continue at Santiago Bernabeu.

“Kroos is very well, physically and mentally, he always has a smile on his face, he never gets angry, he never feels the pressure. I think it’s very strange, I ask him if he’s not nervous and he says no,” Ancelotti told reporters on Friday. “The renewal is in his hands, if he wants to renew, all Real Madrid will be happy.”

In an early interview, the German himself expressed his desire to continue with the La Liga champions.

“I know that in these eight years he (Real Madrid president Florentino Perez) has not thought for a second about selling me. At that time I came for ‘only’ €25m, surely he could have sold me later for more money,” he said.

“I have an excellent relationship with the club, I have grown very fond of it. The president, the team, the fans… so I won’t leave either.”
