Newcastle United to make bid for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos in January

Real Madrid has undergone numerous changes since the appointment of Xabi Alonso as manager, the most notable of which is a shift in the pecking order across the pitch. Some players who were once considered regular starters and high-impact substitutes under the previous manager are now getting little playing time, while others have risen from obscurity to stardom in a matter of months.

Alonso’s preferences for certain individuals will undoubtedly influence Real Madrid’s intentions during the forthcoming transfer window. After all, certain names will try to push for a departure if they are not enjoying their minutes. According to a recent report by Mario Cortegana, Fran Garcia and Dani Ceballos are two players that may soon depart Real Madrid.

The Spanish midfielder previously explored a move away from the Spanish capital in 2024 and 2025. His current deal finishes in 2027, and given the scant minutes he is receiving, he might easily conclude his leave.

Dani Ceballos and Fran Garcia short on playing time

According to Indykaila, Real Madrid would consider any proposals for Rodrygo, like they did in the summer. Los Blancos did not openly shop Rodrygo since he did not request to go, but there was plenty of speculation that his representatives were looking into departure strategies.

According to The Athletic, Los Blancos are prepared to part with Rodrygo for the appropriate price, with Alonso hoping to find a successor. Rodrygo is also allegedly dissatisfied with his playing time. Dani Ceballos and Fran Garcia, who have received limited playing time under Alonso, are two other players who might go. Ferland Mendy looks to have surpassed Garcia in the pecking order at left-back once healthy, leaving Garcia as third choice.

Garcia has played 356 minutes this season, compared to Ceballos’ 493 minutes. The latter has been flirting with a return to Real Betis for some time but has yet to receive an offer that would allow Real Madrid to let him go. Los Blancos were set to let him depart on loan for Olympique Marseille in August, but Ceballos cancelled the agreement. Both, like Rodrygo, will be able to depart for the appropriate cost.
