Courtois - We were unlucky

Thibaut Courtois felt Real Madrid were unlucky not to come away with a win.

He said, “We performed well, we created chances and all that was missing was that second goal. Had we managed to get the goal earlier, we’d have won the game. We’ve got to try to win games and put teams under pressure because there’s still a long way to go. The LaLiga title race is still alive and we’ve got to keep fighting until the end”.

“We played well in the first half. We created chances that we didn’t manage to put away. We made a slow start to the second half. They scored an amazing goal that he put right into the top corner and it became an uphill struggle for us. We scored but then didn’t manage to get a second”.

“The gaffer wanted to change to three at the back, with Mendy and Lucas on the wings. We gave them too much space at the start when we lost possession and that’s how their goal came. Our full-backs we further forward and they couldn’t get back for Portu’s goal. Sometimes we drop points and other times we win them. Real Sociedad are a great team who are fighting at the top of the league table. Not all the games are easy”.

“On Sunday we head to the Wanda and there’s a lot at stake. If we want to win, we’ll have to be at our best.  We’re in good shape and we’re getting some players back from injury. Atlético Madrid are where they are because they’ve been winning games. We have to try to beat them”.
