A season marred by injuries and inconsistent playing time, Dani Ceballos has reached the point of no return at Real Madrid. Now that the summer transfer window is approaching, the 29-year-old midfielder is ready to end his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spain international believes it’s time for a new beginning, even if his contract expires in 2027 after an extension was agreed in 2023. Ceballos is thinking about the future even if he is presently concentrating on the latter phases of his recuperation from a calf injury.
He is now a supporting player in the squad’s rotation since he has been unable to break into a midfield hierarchy that includes players like Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham.
Marca claims that if a good deal is made, Real Madrid is willing to help him go. The leadership, which is headed by Florentino Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez, acknowledges that a sale would help reduce the pay bill and make room for up-and-coming players like those making an impression in the younger levels, but they do not want to just give the player away.
Ceballos Decides to Leave Real Madrid
The board is aware that Ceballos’s high-value years are essentially coming to an end, and given his contract situation, this summer is the final significant chance to recover a transfer fee. Everyone agrees that the relationship has reached its end and that ending it amicably is the best course of action.
Real Betis is a major player in terms of possible landing sites. Ceballos, who has never concealed his love for his previous team, continues to prioritize the Seville-based club both emotionally and athletically. Financial obstacles impede the relocation, though. In the end, the transaction will rely on the state of the economy, Betis’ wage cap restrictions, and Madrid’s readiness to work out a price that the Andalusian team can actually pay.
The athlete is now putting in a lot of effort to make sure he can play in the last few weeks of the season. He just resumed part-time training with the first-team group after being diagnosed with a muscle issue in his right calf in late February. Although he will soon be fully healthy again, his standing on the field is unlikely to change significantly.
