Eden Hazard has received a vote of confidence from his national team coach, Roberto Martinez.
It has been a rough stretch for the Belgian ever since he signed for Real Madrid in 2018.
Injuries and poor form have been a constant source of criticism for the record Galactico signing. But Martinez believes 2021 will be a big year for Hazard.
“We were looking forward to seeing him play for Belgium in 2020,” Martinez said during a press conference ahead of the Red Devils’ Nations League match against Denmark.
“He has been unlucky. But I think 2021 is going to be a great year for Eden Hazard and for all the fans.”
Hazard did return to score for Real before a positive COVID-19 test sidelined him once again. He will be eligible to play in the upcoming games against Villareal and Inter Milan for Real.
The 29-year-old’s attacking strengths will be required in improving Real’s front line. Currently, the team lacks the consistent strength to break down opposition defences, scoring very sporadically and missing clear chances.
Zinedine Zidane have utilised Marco Asensio out wide but the Hazard could be a massive improvement on the left flank. Karim Benzema will be able to work well with the Belgian while either Asensio, Rodrygo Goes or Vinicius Junior fills up the other flank.
