Erling Haaland highlights Karim Benzema as example for ways to develop and improve.

The Man City striker has lauded Benzema as one of his inspirations in the game.

He himself had a solid start to his debut Premier League season scoring three goals for the reigning champions.

Benzema, on the other hand, was instrumental last season for Real Madrid in their quest of securing the La Liga and Champions League.

The 34-year-old forward is the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or later this year.

Haaland, 22, believes on the long-term picture and cites Karim Benzema as an example behind his aspirations.

“I don’t know what will happen, but it must always be about learning, about developing,” Haaland told FourFourTwo.

“You can never stop looking for new ways to become better.

“Look at Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. He’s 34 now, and suddenly he’s developed into an even better player over the last couple of years – that’s insanely good. I want to always do that.”
