Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has broken his silence following a training ground incident with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni.
“I did not hit my teammate”: Valverde issues statement after hospital visit
The Uruguayan released a detailed statement on social media, clarifying what happened and apologizing for his role in the altercation.
Valverde explains that tensions boiled over during a drill, with fatigue and frustration making the situation seem worse than it truly is.
“Yesterday I had an incident with a teammate as a result of a play during training,” he writes.
He insists such clashes happen in normal locker rooms and usually stay internal.
However, someone rushed to leak the story to the press, and with Real Madrid enduring a trophyless season, everything gets magnified.
The midfielder reveals that another disagreement occurred today. During that argument, he accidentally struck a table, cutting his forehead and requiring a routine hospital visit.
Valverde strongly denies any physical violence between him and Tchouameni.
“At no point has my teammate hit me, nor have I hit him,” he states.
Valverde admits his anger and frustration come from the team’s struggles.
“Some of us are reaching the end of the season running on our last bit of energy, breaking ourselves mentally,” he writes.
He apologizes sincerely, adding that any on-pitch clashes disappear once players step off the field.
“If I have to defend him inside a stadium, I’ll be the first to do so.”
The most painful consequence for Valverde? Medical staff have ruled him out of the next match due to the cut.
“I have always gone until the end, to the very last consequences,” he says.
He finishes by placing himself at the club’s disposal to cooperate with any decision they consider necessary.
