Ferland Mendy is expected to renew his contract with Real Madrid amidst summer exit links

Given his position on the squad, Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy anticipated receiving an improved contract offer from the organisation

The Frenchman joined the Santiago Bernabeu from Olympique Lyon in 2019 and gradually took Marcelo’s position as the preferred left-back, developing into a key player for both Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti.

Mendy has received some criticism for his attacking contributions, but the Italian tactician values him for his stability and dependability at the rear. The French international has been out since late January due to an injury, and Los Blancos have struggled to cover the void left by his absence. Ancelotti has turned to Nacho, Eduardo Camavinga, and David Alaba, though with varying degrees of success.

The current Real Madrid contract for Mendy continues through the summer of 2025. The left-back, however, was rumoured to be waiting for a new offer from the team because his current contract does not properly reflect his significance to the team. Although the Merengues are concentrating on deciding the futures of players whose contracts expire this summer, there has been no action from the club on this front.

The possibility of Mendy leaving Real Madrid during the summer transfer season has now been opened up, and the La Liga champions are not ruling it out just yet. The report claims that clubs in the Premier League and Serie A are interested in the full-back, so if he decides to depart, he won’t be short on suitors.

Fran Garcia’s repurchase option was already exercised by Real Madrid, who paid Rayo Vallecano €5 million to re-sign him. Alejandro Grimaldo, a former defender for Barca who will be a free agent in the summer, has also been mentioned recently. He might be considered as a choice if Mendy chooses to look for a way out of the Santiago Bernabeu.
