Florentino Perez Put On Blast By Rivaldo For Super League Agenda

Real Madrid have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique to become the club’s next permanent manager, sources confirm to Football Transfers.

Luis Enrique Emerges as Real Madrid’s Top Choice for Head Coach Role

Alvaro Arbeloa currently leads the first team after Xabi Alonso departed by mutual consent in January.

The former Real Madrid defender has impressed during his interim spell, guiding Los Blancos to a commanding 5-1 aggregate victory over Manchester City in the Champions League round of 16 last month.

Club president Florentino Perez has reportedly already begun working on an ambitious move to bring Enrique to the Bernabeu ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The 55-year-old Spanish tactician led PSG to their first Champions League title last season.

His side remains a strong contender for Europe’s top prize again this year, having demolished Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate in the last-16 before delivering an eye-catching first-leg performance against Liverpool in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Real Madrid view Enrique as one of football’s finest strategic minds. His past ties to Barcelona do not discourage Perez, who sees the coach’s winning pedigree as the priority.

Enrique began his professional career at Real Madrid, spending five years at the club after joining from Sporting Gijon.

However, Madrid sold him directly to Barcelona in 1996. He later scored five goals against his former club during a celebrated spell at Camp Nou.

As a manager, Enrique won a treble in his first season at Barcelona (2014-15) and collected nine trophies over three years.

Real Madrid have not confirmed whether Arbeloa will remain beyond this season. The club plans to review his position after the 2025-26 campaign ends.

Meanwhile, PSG have identified Xabi Alonso as a potential replacement should Enrique decide to leave Paris this summer.
