James Rodriguez ruled out a return with Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

The 30-year old remains uncertain over his future with Everton but ruled out a return to the Santiago Bernabeu.

He spent six years at Real Madrid and left the Spanish giants last summer to join Everton to reunite with then-coach Carlo Ancelotti.

He ended the 2020/21 campaign with 11 assists in 23 games.

“They are asking me a lot where I am going to play. I don’t know, the truth is a quite complicated issue. Let’s see what happens,” Rodriguez said.

“I don’t want to say yes and no, because I don’t know. I’m training well and hard. I don’t know what’s going to happen, I don’t know where I’m going to play. In football and in life we don’t know anything.

“I’m training hard, preparing well, training for myself and that’s it. You have to think about the present and the present is here, I’m training hard for everything to come.

He added when asked about Real Madrid return: “Are you going back to Real Madrid? No, I don’t think so.

“That is a closed cycle which I won’t repeat.”
