Andriy Lunin Ecstatic To Be At Real Madrid

Real Madrid thought their business was over long before the last day of the summer transfer market, which was a quiet day at the Santiago Bernabeu headquarters. Yes, there were no incoming or outgoing agreements at Valdebebas on Monday. However, it has since been revealed that another club made an effort to recruit one of Xabi Alonso’s players.

In fact, Defensa Central claims that Girona recently showed interest in buying goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and attempted to persuade Real Madrid to allow him to go on loan, but the offer was made extremely late in the transfer window.

According to the source, they made a last-ditch effort to resolve the issue last evening at about 18:30, just under six hours before the transfer window closed, but Real Madrid rejected their plea, so nothing changed.

After failing to acquire Lunin, the Catalan team, who were already on the verge of acquiring Dominik Livakovic, ended up enlisting the Croatian goalie as a backup.

Real Madrid rejected a late deadline-day offer for Andriy Lunin

Lunin has been identified by the Turkish powerhouses as their first choice to take the position of Croatian international goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic, who is attempting to go in the next few days, according to Diario AS. Jose Mourinho, the former head coach of Real Madrid, has also suggested that the team pursue the Ukrainian.

The Ukrainian international, whose prospects of playing frequently seem limited, will continue to serve as Thibaut Courtois’s deputy. It’s true that Lunin hasn’t played a minute in the new season under Xabi Alonso yet.

Since the new manager at Bayer Leverkusen had previously expressed a desire to switch up his goalkeepers across tournaments, there could be some optimism that the 26-year-old would eventually receive some opportunity.

During his seven years at Real Madrid, Lunin has made 62 appearances in the first team. He is under contract with the team till 2030.
