Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has delivered a brutal reality check to midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, making it clear that regular playing time will be almost impossible to come by this season.

According to Spanish journalist Sergio ValentÃn, the Portuguese manager met with the 23-year-old Frenchman after he reported for pre-season training and did not mince words about his squad status.
“José Mourinho has spoken with Eduardo Camavinga and explained his situation to him. He’s going to have a very tough time getting minutes. Mourinho has been direct with him,” ValentÃn reported.

The warning comes as no surprise given Real Madrid’s aggressive summer recruitment drive.
The club expects to complete the signing of Manchester City star Rodri in the coming weeks, a move that would further crowd an already stacked midfield.
With Aurélien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, and new arrival Bernardo Silva all ahead of Camavinga in the pecking order, the French international finds himself buried deep on the depth chart.
Camavinga’s disappointing 2025/26 campaign has done him no favours.
He managed just 21 La Liga appearances with a single goal, plus only one Champions League outing numbers far below the standards he set in previous seasons.
Those underwhelming statistics have convinced Mourinho that the former Rennes prodigy does not fit into his plans for the new project at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid’s hierarchy would welcome a sale to generate funds and free up squad space, with Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly monitoring the situation.
However, Camavinga remains defiant. Despite Mourinho’s brutal honesty, the midfielder has no intention of walking away.
“Camavinga is focused solely on changing his situation. Therefore, he is not currently considering leaving Real Madrid,” reports have confirmed.
