Jose Mourinho discuss his Real Madrid return and advises Ancelotti on his future

Nico Williams should decline a move to the Premier League and sign with Real Madrid if he departs Athletic Bilbao, according to Jose Mourinho. The 22-year-old was voted player of the match in Spain’s victory against England and scored in the final, making him one of the summer’s most impressive performers at Euro 2024. Following the tournament, there was a lot of conjecture about Williams’ future. It was thought that Williams was a target for several Premier League teams, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona.

After choosing to remain at Athletic, the winger has had a somewhat quiet season, making 15 appearances and only managing one La Liga goal. According to reports, the 22-year-old has a release clause worth over €58 million (£47.8 million), and he was strongly linked to a summer transfer to Arsenal. However, Williams staying in La Liga is what Mourinho would desire.

Mourinho recommends signing for Real Madrid

“Nico is amazing,” the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager stated. Everyone was raving about Yamal at the most recent Euros. Clearly another outstanding young talent. However, I think Nico is better because he is an amazing football player. It is unthinkable that he could sign with a Turkish team; I hope he joins Real Madrid.

Mourinho acknowledged that he still supported the team after serving in the hot seat at the Bernabeu for three years. “I am very much a Real Madrid fan; they have the best coach in the world, my friend Carlo,” Mourinho said. Earlier in the season, there were rumors that Manchester United would also try to sign Williams next summer. Rivals Manchester City may join them in that, as Rodri has stated that he would like to wear the same uniform as his Spain teammate at the club level. To the question of whether he would want to bring Williams to City, Rodri replied, “Yes, yes.”
