Jurgen Klopp is a contender to lead Real Madrid, and the legendary Liverpool player is said to be amenable to the position. Xabi Alonso, a Spaniard who had a turbulent reign that culminated in a loss to fierce rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, was fired by Real Madrid on Monday.
Alvaro Arbeloa, the manager of their reserve squad, has taken Alonso’s job. It’s unclear, though, if the former right-back for West Ham and Liverpool is managing Real Madrid permanently or just temporarily. It hasn’t been ruled out that Los Blancos may try to rescue their season by making another acquisition. Right now, Real Madrid is four points behind Barcelona in La Liga.
The 58-year-old Klopp has become a contender for the possible position, and according to Sky Sports, he would seriously consider it if the 15-time European winners called. The German has a long-term deal with Red Bull and is now in charge of worldwide football, but it is reportedly very appealing to be in the Bernabeu hot seat.
Jurgen Klopp’s final stance on Real Madrid job
Senior Real Madrid officials “really appreciate” Klopp, according to Fabrizio Romano, but the former Liverpool manager must publicly declare his wish to return to coaching. On his YouTube channel, Romano stated, “Klopp is well appreciated by several members of Real Madrid.
“Klopp’s decision to resume coaching must be the first step. Indeed, he would be a summer possibility for Real Madrid if he did that in public. “Klopp has made it clear that he is not connected to the Xabi Alonso situation and is currently focused on his role at Red Bull.” According to rumours in Spain, Klopp wants “the addition of two new faces” at centre back and “demands many changes” if he is to join Real Madrid.
Dayot Upamecano, a defender for Bayern Munich, and Marc Guehi, a target for Liverpool, are both centre backs whose contracts expire at the end of the current campaign. Klopp has put their names “on the table”. “It really has—though not from Madrid,” Klopp said. However, some folks felt compelled to speak with me personally about it.
