Jurgen Klopp, the legendary manager of Liverpool, reportedly “agreed” to join Real Madrid and asked for nine summer moves. After spending nine seasons at Anfield, Klopp left Liverpool at the end of the 2023–24 season because he felt burnt out.
Klopp chose to take a new position at the beginning of 2025 as Red Bull’s Global Head of Football after leaving Liverpool, hinting that he might never go back into management. The 58-year-old has been strongly linked to a transfer to Real Madrid ahead of the summer, but he has been reticent when asked about the prospect of going back to football management.
Real Madrid is reportedly going to fire its current manager, Alvaro Arbeloa, after losing out on La Liga and the Champions League. Real Madrid has been connected to Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho, but one Spanish publication is unable to determine whether Klopp will join them.
Klopp demands major Real Madrid overhaul
According to the latest rumour, Klopp has “asked for” nine moves and “is willing to accept any offer presented to him” by Real Madrid. The source claims that in order to “secure a significant” amount for Eduardo Camavinga, it has been “decided” that Dani Carvajal would depart on a free transfer in the summer.
Additionally, Klopp “will open the door” for Dani Ceballos, Franco Mastantuono, Andriy Lunin, and Fran GarcÃa to depart. According to the source, Klopp has selected Nico Schlotterbeck, Enzo Fernandez, and Kenan Yildiz as desired additions. The aforementioned departures were made to “free up space in the squad” so that they could “finalise” these additions.
According to reports, the former Liverpool manager will “demand a major overhaul from Florentino Perez and intends to show the door to several players who aren’t ready to be part of the squad, even as substitutes.” According to the article in the Spanish media source, Diaz is one of the players whom Klopp does not like. Mbappe and the Moroccan international winger “don’t understand each other and get in each other’s way.”
