Karim Benzema scored a brace against Man City at the Etihad.

Real Madrid lost 4-3 to Man City in their first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

Benzema scored a brace with an ‘ice cold’ penalty that steered up the match in the final minutes.

He has now scored 41 goals in all competitions this season.

Two of the European heavyweights showed absolute attacking football throughout.

“I always have it in my head,” Benzema said. “If you never take penalties, you will never miss one. It is about mental confidence, nothing else. I have a lot of confidence in myself.

“A defeat is never good. We are on a mission in this Champions League, we never drop our hands. Now we have to go to the Bernabeu. We need our fans, as never before, and we are going to do something magic. Which is to win.”
