Real Madrid are currently slated for a major exodus in the summer of 2023
The club appears to be in no rush to extend the contracts of a number of seasoned players whose contracts expire in June. The situation with the expiring contracts is significant news. Karim Benzema is the only player who will undoubtedly agree to a new contract at the Bernabeu, claims the Spanish publication. Future plans for Dani Ceballos, Marco Asensio, and Luka Modric will all rely on how they perform in the remaining games of the season.
Toni Kroos’ case is the only distinctive one in the club. His contract should be extended by Real Madrid for at least one more season, and they have even made an offer. The obstacle in this scenario, though, comes from the player’s perspective as he considers quitting at the end of the current campaign.
While Luka Modric appears to have scuffed an extension that was set in stone, Kroos is scheduled to announce his decision by the end of February. Since the FIFA World Cup, the Croatian International’s performance has significantly deteriorated, and there are now significant concerns about his extension at the Bernabeu offices.
However, Dani Ceballos has recently attracted the attention of directors, so the midfield won’t be entirely decimated. Carlo Ancelotti may decide to sign a contract with the Spaniard if his impactful performances are enough to convince him to do so in the future.
On the other hand, Asensio will need to establish his value in the second half of the season. According to reports from earlier today, Ancelotti sees him as a capable backup and will decide on his future in the coming weeks.
