Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is facing a potential minimum ten-match ban following his controversial red card against Alaves in La Liga — a decision that could bring an early end to his domestic season in Spain.

Kylian Mbappe Could Miss Rest of La Liga Season After Violent Conduct Red Card

The incident, which unfolded late in the fiery league clash, initially saw the 26-year-old French superstar shown a yellow card.

However, VAR replays revealed the full extent of the challenge — a dangerous, studs-up stamp that could have seriously injured his opponent. The yellow was swiftly upgraded to red after the referee reviewed the footage.

Former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett didn’t hold back in his assessment, calling Mbappe’s tackle a “cowardly act” and urging the Spanish football authorities to issue a strong message.

“He put the career of his opponent at risk,” Hackett told Football Insider.

“Despite his name and reputation, this brutal challenge warrants a minimum ten-game suspension. The authorities must show there is no place for this in football.”

While the looming suspension is likely to apply only to domestic competitions, Mbappe will still be eligible to play in the Champions League — and will be expected to start in the crucial second-leg clash against Arsenal on April 16.

The Gunners, who stunned Madrid with a 3-0 win at the Emirates, are bracing for a fierce response at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid managed a narrow 1-0 win in La Liga following the incident, while Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw against Brentford — both clubs rotating their squads in anticipation of the European showdown.

Mbappe’s fiery moment has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a statement season following his blockbuster move to Madrid.

With Barcelona leading the league and El Clasico set to decide the Copa del Rey, a lengthy ban could mean Mbappe finishes his debut campaign in Spain without silverware — and with his disciplinary record under heavy scrutiny.
