Kylian Mbappe is nowhere close to signing for Real Madrid.
That is according to Real Madrid sporting director Jorge Valdano.
Speculation over Mbappe’s future sprouted up once again after his winning performance against Barcelona. He put three goals past the Blaugrana to essentially kill their hopes of Champions League success this season.
Mbappe denied all claims about leaving right after the game. He is under contract until June 2022 and PSG are preparing talks of handing him an extension.
Valdano said, “After this [Barcelona game], Mbappé is further from Real Madrid than ever before. He can ask for a €30 million salary, the same as Neymar, and only PSG can offer that amount.”
Mbappe put up a performance which brought the entire footballing world on notice. The Frenchman is already a World Cup winner and has collected every domestic trophy available in France.
Valdano believes that PSG would be less inclined to swapping Messi for Mbappe after Tuesday’s display. It is clear who the next in line is to take over the European throne.
“I don’t see PSG very interested right now in swapping Mbappé for Messi,” he added. “Mbappé changed the scale of values.”
At just 22, Mbappe has a plethora of clubs circling for him. Unless he is guaranteed future success, PSG could come around to losing him next summer.
