Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid‘s star striker and captain of the French national team, has responded firmly to reports linking him to a rape investigation in Sweden.
Real Madrid Star Mbappe Hits Back at Swedish Media with Defamation Claim
Mbappe has categorically denied the allegations, launching a defamation lawsuit against Swedish media outlets that suggested he was involved in a crime.
The allegations surfaced after Swedish media, including Aftonbladet and Expressen, reported that Mbappe was under investigation for a rape incident that allegedly occurred during his recent visit to Stockholm.
The reports claimed that the incident took place at a luxurious hotel in the heart of the city, coinciding with Mbappe’s brief holiday while recovering from an injury.
In response to these reports, Mbappe took to social media, denouncing the claims as “fake news” and suggesting the timing was suspicious, given his ongoing legal battle with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, over unpaid wages.
He also expressed his frustration with how the media handled the situation.
Mbappe’s legal team has moved swiftly to address the issue. His lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, dismissed the reports, urging the public not to be distracted from Mbappe’s ongoing legal matters.
She emphasized that the player has done nothing wrong and expressed confidence in clearing his name.
Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, another lawyer representing Mbappe, confirmed that a defamation lawsuit has been filed and that they will pursue legal action to protect his reputation.
Despite the media frenzy, Swedish authorities have not confirmed the identity of the suspect, and no formal charges have been filed.
As the situation unfolds, the scandal threatens to impact Mbappe’s career, but he remains focused on defending his innocence while awaiting further developments.
