Real Madrid defeated Valencia 4-0 on Saturday, moving seven points ahead at the top of La Liga thanks to two goals from Kylian Mbappe. Villarreal defeated Rayo Vallecano 4-0 to maintain their impressive start to the season and go up to second position temporarily, ahead of champions Barcelona.

With a convincing 3-0 victory against Sevilla, Atletico Madrid tightened their hold on fourth place and tied the score with champions Barcelona, who will host Elche on Sunday in an attempt to reduce Madrid’s advantage to five points.

Jude Bellingham and Alvaro Carreras also scored for rampaging Real after Mbappe’s double, giving them an easy win ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League match against Liverpool.

Vinicius apologised for his public outburst after being substituted in Madrid’s victory against Barcelona in the Clasico last weekend, and he started on the left side of the attack. The Brazilian appeared to ask Mbappe to take a penalty in the first half, but he missed it. Other than that, he performed admirably.

Kylian Mbappe scores two more as Real Madrid beats Valencia

Real Madrid coach Alonso told reporters, “I want them to score the penalties; they are good opportunities.” Mbappe opened the score with a penalty kick, and Alonso affirmed that the French sensation is the one assigned to take the spot kicks.

“Kylian scored the first goal, and although it’s not a major issue, I would have liked to score the second. Alonso stated, “Vinicius had a very good game. Kylian is still the first-choice taker.” Despite his club’s lead in the standings and the upcoming trip to Anfield, Alonso selected what was undoubtedly his best team.

Bellingham’s goal and Mbappe’s double gave Madrid a solid three-goal advantage at halftime, virtually ending the match. “Kylian has that ease of finding the net, of being in the right place… he will score many goals.”

Mbappe scored Madrid’s second goal by volleying in a cross from Arda Guler after scoring from the spot after a handball by Cesar Tarrega.
