Lazio wants Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz on one condition

Mariano Diaz has not been wanted by Real Madrid for some time, and with just over six months left on his deal, maybe they can find a place for the misfit striker

The 29-year-old Mariano has been deemed surplus to needs at Los Blancos for several seasons, but due to a contract that is significantly larger than his current market value, he has chosen to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.

There is a lot less money at stake for Mariano because his contract expires next summer. It might result in a departure in January.

Only if he departs Real Madrid without payment are Lazio interested in bringing him to Rome this winter. The other team considering a deal is Espanyol, who in September sold Raul de Tomas to Rayo Vallecano.

Mariano has made five appearances thus far this season, but they only amount to 25 minutes in total. He has played a meagre amount of minutes for Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane over the course of the last three seasons as their confidence in him has dwindled. Mariano has the ability to score goals if a team can get the best out of him. It is difficult to predict how he will react to the demands of regular football after such a long absence.
