Marcelo To Remain At Real Madrid After Ancelotti's Arrival

Marcelo might not be heading out of Real Madrid after all.

Carlo Ancelotti was reappointed as the Galacticos boss to a lot of people’s surprise.

That has obviously brought on a new approach to Real which could see some of the fringe players given fresh opportunities. After a decade of excellent service, Marcelo saw himself drop down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane.

Reports even claimed that he could be offloaded for a small sum as the younger duo of Ferland Mendy and Gutierrez would handed the chance to fight for a starting role. Now, Marca says that Ancelotti’s arrival could mean a lifeline for the Brazilian defender.

Eden Hazard is one other player whose future has been brought into question. The Belgian has struggled to remain fit during his two seasons and now could miss the 2020 Euros as well.

“I’ve only had one full week of training,” Hazard told RTBF. “We’ll see, with the medical team what I’ll do for the first match.

“To begin with, it will be the head coach’s decision, but I’m still not 100 percent so we’ll see what we’ll do. We know we did something amazing at the World Cup three years ago. We are going to focus on doing better, there’s a lot of potential in this group.”

Unless Hazard improves drastically this season, he could be moved on for a fraction of the fee Real originally paid for him.
