This summer, Real Madrid player Marco Asensio must decide what to do with his career

The Los Blancos forward’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the conclusion of the 2022–2023 season, and there has been no progress on an extension offer. The 27-year-old is drawing significant transfer interest from the Premier League.

According to reports from Caught Offside, Asensio has acknowledged he is unsure of what the upcoming months would mean for his career and that he is still no closer to having an answer.

His primary connection appears to be a move to join Aston Villa’s burgeoning project under Unai Emery, who is prepared to offer him the team’s highest-paid player. The Athletic is reporting that Emery has identified Asensio as a top summer target and will pressure the board to extend a formal offer before the end of the current campaign.

In order to increase the Spanish influence in his Villa team, Emery may pursue further La Liga deals if he makes a move for Asensio. The Midlands team still has a chance to play in Europe with three games left. If they are eligible, more depth will be required to handle the demanding fixture calendar.

Villa could use more global alternatives. Leon Bailey and Bertrand Traore are the only natural wings for them. Jacob Ramsey and John McGinn have both written about these topics. Three pivotal games against other European contenders are the final three matches for Emery’s team.
