Olympique de Marseille are actively negotiating with Real Madrid to sign Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos (29) as an urgent replacement for Adrien Rabiot, who was expelled from the squad following a violent dressing room incident.
BREAKING: Marseille Launch Ambitious Move for Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos
The club’s president, Pablo Longoria, labeled the altercation between Rabiot and English winger Jonathan Rowe as “extremely violent” and unprecedented, resulting in both players being transfer-listed.
With Rabiot’s departure imminent, manager Roberto De Zerbi supports the decision, emphasizing the need to uphold discipline after the brawl left a teammate unconscious.
Marseille have identified Ceballos as their “dream target” to reinforce the midfield, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Initial talks have begun between the clubs, with OM proposing a loan deal with an option to buy. However, the operation faces hurdles due to Real Madrid’s stance and competition from other suitors.
Ceballos, whose future at Madrid remains uncertain under coach Xabi Alonso, has attracted interest from Champions League clubs and his former team, Real Betis.
Despite his affinity for Betis, financial constraints may hinder a move, giving Marseille a potential advantage.
The coming days will be critical as Marseille push to secure the Spaniard’s services before the transfer window closes.
