As Fabrizio Romano stated, it is now known that Luka Modric, a 39-year-old midfielder for Real Madrid, wants to remain with the team for another season. The Croatian midfielder is keen on sticking with Los Blancos for at least another year, as his current contract expires in June 2025.

It should be mentioned that Modric has been a member of Real Madrid for nearly 13 years, having joined in 2012. Modric has played an incredible 616 games for Real Madrid, scoring 43 goals and dishing out 93 assists, solidifying his status as one of the best midfielders ever to wear the Madrid jersey.

For a player like Luka Modric, statistics don’t tell the whole story because of his impact on Los Blancos in the middle of the field, which goes beyond simple numbers. He has played 44 games for Real Madrid this season, recording 11 goals against all opponents. He is now preparing for the forthcoming international games with the Croatian national team.

Real Madrid maestro pushing to extend his contract

Nevertheless, Modric is conscious of the realities of his advancing years and the changing dynamics within the team. Only if his playing time is strictly controlled would he consider extending his contract. In order to avoid becoming overused, the 39-year-old knows that his job needs to be modified.

In contrast, Real Madrid is not in a hurry to decide. In April or May, the club typically reviews contract renewals; Modric’s case will be evaluated in the same time frame. Transfer plans will be a major consideration in the club’s decision-making process. Madrid may change their position on Modric’s future if they choose to add a new midfield player.

But as of right now, Real Madrid is not prioritizing the acquisition of a midfield player this summer. Given Madrid’s contentment with Modric’s performances and his resolve to keep playing at the greatest level, a contract extension may be imminent. Los Blancos, like usual, will deliberate before making a decision.
