Real Madrid great Miguel Ángel González has rated Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak as a better custodian than Thibaut Courtois.
Courtois was a Chelsea youth signing and then loaned out to Atletico Madrid where he made a big name for himself. It was followed by his return to Chelsea where he won the league amidst other trophies.
Finally in the summer of 2018, he was picked up by Real Madrid in a rather underhanded manner, as is common for the club. However, it was a good move as Courtois has delivered since then.
But not every keeper seems to share the sentiment as Real legend Gonzalez rates Oblak as a better keeper Courtois.
He told Radio Marca: “The goalkeeper I like the most right now is Oblak, because of the way he moves in the goal. Then I would put Courtois and then (Marc-Andre) Ter Stegen who does very good things but it is not the style that most I like.
“I’d pay a little more for Oblak than for Courtois.”
On news that Iker Casillas is returning to Madrid, Gonzalez added: “It is always important that a person who has lived with Real Madrid returns and contributes his experience. I am very happy that Iker is back to contribute his ideas to the foundation.”
