According to TEAMtalk, Real Madrid is apparently interested in acquiring Diogo Dalot, a full-back for Manchester United. The Portuguese international is seen by the Spanish powerhouses as a possible long-term addition to their back line.
Manager Xabi Alonso reportedly wants more depth at right-back even though the team signed Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer, especially as veteran Dani Carvajal is nearing the end of his career.
Under Ruben Amorim, Dalot, 26, has been one of Man United’s most reliable players, impressing with both his attacking and defensive skills. Dalot is a great asset to the Red Devils because of his flexibility, which allows him to play both left and right back.
But Europe’s top teams have also taken notice of his performances; Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich are apparently keeping a close eye on him. Since Dalot’s exceptional international performances for Portugal, Real Madrid’s scouting staff has been keeping an eye on him, according to TEAMtalk.
Real Madrid consider replacing defender with Manchester United star
Real Madrid intends to recruit at least a few players in the summer, focusing on midfield and centre defence. Depending on whether Dani Carvajal receives a new contract offer before his current one expires at the conclusion of the season, a new right-back may also be added.
The Portugal international has been a consistent starter this season, but Man United director of football Jason Wilcox is reportedly “open to considering offers” for him. Real Madrid is unlikely to be able to negotiate a lower fee for the 26-year-old, though, given his contract is set to last at least until 2028.
A Real Madrid attempt on Dalot would be shocking. He would be costly for a player who would probably take a backseat to Trent, and he does not match the club’s transfer criteria. It’s likely that a younger player or free transfer will be pursued in lieu of Carvajal if a move is made to replace him.
