A report in Spain claims that when Manchester City midfielder Rodri returns from a long-term injury, he is not inclined to encourage Real Madrid’s transfer interest.
After suffering an ACL tear in September, Rodri has been out of commission. Ironically, this occurred just after the great player had criticized the overly demanding physical demands placed on athletes. The winner of the Ballon d’Or, however, is attempting to make a comeback in time for the FIFA Club World Cup tournament.
According to Cadena SER in Spain, Real Madrid officials have determined that Rodri is the best candidate to succeed Toni Kroos, who said goodbye to Germany for the second time last summer after winning the Champions League and competing at Euro 2024.
However, the defending European champions could not be successful for long because Rodri is content in Manchester and has no plans to leave, according to SPORT BILD. Madrid’s midfield is severely lacking, and their lack of success this season is evident from the Spanish powerhouses‘ inability to connect the midfield to their offense.
Man City star Rodri is being targeted by Real Madrid
Pep Guardiola stated, “He’s an unbelievable player” in his praise of the Spaniard. He is by far the world’s top midfield player right now. Since Man City is not in the running to win the league or the Champions League, Rodri’s absence this season has had a significant impact.
Since Rodri is from Madrid, a move to the Bernabeu would be somewhat of a homecoming, even though he has thus far loyally supported Atletico. After spending around £63 million on Rodri in the summer of 2019, City has reaped the rewards, supporting a record run of four consecutive Premier League victories from 2020 to 2024.
This season, the Euro 2024 champion sustained a major injury that kept him out of action, which caused Guardiola’s team to struggle in the midfield. Rodri formerly played for Atletico Madrid, one of Real Madrid’s fiercest rivals, so it’s unclear if he would be interested in joining them. The Belgian’s and Rodri’s departures in the same summer would be too much for Man City, who lost Kevin De Bruyne this summer.
