The 25-year-old Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin may be replaced by FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, according to Jorge Mendes. Instead of bringing a flawless substitute, though, they would like to invite someone who would be a competitor for the lead role. Interestingly, Chelsea, a team in the Premier League, has also expressed interest.

Andriy Lunin’s future at Real Madrid appears questionable, according to a report from the Spanish publication AS. The decision-makers at Santiago Bernabeu will meet with Jorge Mendes, the agent of the Ukrainian international, to talk about the 25-year-old’s future. Furthermore, he might propose Diogo Costa, the goalkeeper for FC Porto, as a replacement, albeit at a price tag of approximately €75 million.

Diogo Costa could be No. 1 for Real Madrid

Real Madrid is working nonstop to assemble the team for the 2024–2025 campaign, and Andriy Lunin is one of the players that could depart this summer. ‘AS’ reports that the goalkeeper’s agent, Jorge Mendes, will visit the Spanish capital to meet with Real Madrid and finalise the goalkeeper’s contract, which runs until 2025.

Following Courtois’ injury last season, the Ukrainian assumed goalkeeping responsibilities. He also defeated the Spaniard in a tug-of-war with Kepa, but in the end, the Belgian goalkeeper came back and knocked him down to second place. The only issue is that the goalie’s contract with Porto runs until 2027, and there is a 75 million euro buyout clause.
