Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid’s bitter rivals, attempted to sign the 27-year-old Argentine international last summer, but the deal fell through.
Romero’s recent remarks against his own club’s board, however, have raised concerns that he may not be entirely content at Tottenham and may look for a change of scenery in the summer.
