This weekend will mark the final time a member of Real Madrid’s defensive squad will play in the team’s primary colors. According to The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai, a Blancos insider, Jesús Vallejo is the player in question.

This summer is when stopper Vallejo’s contract in the capital of Spain is scheduled to expire. The incoming Xabi Alonso does not have any plans for the 28-year-old, who will be free to go as a free agent and look for a new team for the upcoming campaign.

Vallejo will not be included in Los Merengues’ squad for the forthcoming Club World Cup, in contrast to some of the other players in Real Madrid’s roster whose contracts are set to expire in 2025.

This indicates that the central defender, who has been a member of Real Madrid’s roster for the past ten years, will play his final match against Real Sociedad on Saturday.

Real Madrid defender to play his final game for the club

According to a recent report by The Athletic, Vallejo is not in the new manager’s plans and will not travel with Real Madrid to the FIFA Club World Cup. His final game as a Real Madrid player will be this weekend’s matchup with Real Sociedad; it is unclear if Ancelotti will give him any playing time to say goodbye.

Throughout the years, the 28-year-old has played on loan at Real Zaragoza, Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolverhampton, and Granada, among other places.

However, with a little over 100 minutes played this season, his role at Real Madrid has been limited. Although it is unexpected, the club’s decision to forego bringing him to the event next month is a sign of the management’s utter mistrust of him.

Given that his contract is about to expire, it is unclear what direction he will pursue in his career.
