Mbappe’s current deal expires in the summer and while it had been widely expected he’d join Real Madrid when it does Barcelona have now entered the race as well

The top players in the world want to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid at some point in their careers. Needless to say, when a superstar seeks a transfer away, the two Spanish titans are nearly always embroiled in a brawl.

Taking all of this into account, Kylian Mbappe’s transfer to Real Madrid appeared to be a no-brainer. The Frenchman had his heart set on the Bernabeu, and the two sides had even reached an agreement verbally.

However, the unavoidable has occurred. According to L’Equipe, Barcelona has entered the competition for Mbappe, posing a fresh danger to Los Blancos’ ambitions. The 23-year-old is still distant from reaching an agreement with the Blaugranes, but he has not ruled out a move.

Barcelona is aiming to rebuild their roster in the summer, and Erling Haaland was initially connected to the club. They have resorted to alternate possibilities such as Mbappe and Mohammed Salah after falling out of the hunt for the Norwegian.

Furthermore, the Catalan government believes that a transfer for Mbappe would be a superior bargain for both the club and the player.

While the Norwegian deal involves a €70 million price, several commissions, and a signing bonus, Mbappe would join on a free transfer at the very least.

It’s impossible to see the Frenchman moving to Camp Nou after being so open about his desire to wear Madrid’s white.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will make a better financial offer to the PSG star.
