On Sunday night, Xabi Alonso, the manager of Real Madrid, came under heavy fire from his followers. This follows Los Blancos’ devastating loss to Barcelona, their bitter rivals. A short while ago, the most recent El Clásico was completed, this time in the Spanish Super Cup final.
After a thrilling ninety minutes, Barcelona came out on top with a 3-2 final score. And as previously said, people who support Real Madrid have subsequently placed the accusation at Xabi Alonso.
During the second half of this evening, the Spanish strategist made a number of perplexing alterations that left Los Blancos’ supporters perplexed. Many have even gone so far as to demand that Alonso be sent off with immediate effect during a season that has been inconsistent thus far.
Real Madrid reach decision on sacking Xabi Alonso
In late 2025, Alonso faced criticism just a few months after taking over for Carlo Ancelotti in the summer. In eight games between November 4 and December 10, Real earned just two wins. Reports in Spain said that Alonso was in danger, but Fabrizio Romano, who was more collected, said that the outcome of the Spanish Super Cup may decide Alonso’s fate.
Rather than sacking Alonso, Real Madrid will now work with the Spaniard to fix what they believe to be their main problem: keeping players fit. Real did defeat Atletico Madrid to reach the final but lost to Barcelona 3-2 despite a fantastic goal from Vinicius Jr. Real Madrid has been beset by injuries once more this season, and the players’ physical well-being is currently the “first priority” in the Spanish capital.
Giving the manager a flood of new, healthy players during the winter transfer window is one way Real Madrid may offer Alonso an artificial boost. Real Madrid, on the other hand, seldom enters the market in January because they feel the winter window does not provide good value.
