Tottenham Hotspur are apparently keeping eyes on Real Madrid custodian Andriy Lunin. According to Teamtalk, Tottenham are trying to strengthen their goalkeeping unit by signing Real Madrid’s goalie.
The 26-year-old has been a consistent number two for Real Madrid in previous years, but he needs to play more frequently at this point in his career. Sitting on the bench at the Spanish club will not help him, and a move to the Premier League would be perfect.
The player’s management is apparently looking at a move away from Real Madrid, and the chance to play in the Premier League would be intriguing for him. Tottenham have been made aware of the situation with the player, and it remains to be seen whether they will make an offer to sign him.
Brighton and Nottingham Forest are also keeping tabs on the 26-year-old custodian. The Ukrainian has proven his worth in Spain and can flourish in the Premier League as well.
Tottenham ready to snap up Real Madrid goalkeeper
Tottenham Hotspur are currently looking to acquire an elite Champions League custodian who might replace Guglielmo Vicario. Tottenham have underperformed as a team this season, now lying 13th in the Premier League after winning only one of their past five games, but their goalie has faced particularly harsh criticism.
Following the 3-0 loss against Nottingham Forest last month, Jamie Carragher blasted Vicario for refusing to accept responsibility, stating, “Typical Vicario, he’s always blaming someone else.” When a goal is scored, he always throws his arms up towards someone else.
Since then, the Italian has turned in some excellent performances, keeping clean sheets in two of his previous four games, but Jamie O’Hara remains sceptical of the goalie. Interestingly, TEAMtalk reports that Tottenham have ‘increasing doubts’ about the 29-year-old’s long-term future in north London and have begun looking for successors.
