With regard to the signing of Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement
The English international is expected to cost Los Blancos in excess of €100 million (£86 million), making this one of the most expensive transfers in either club’s history. Fabrizio Romano also stated that transaction add-ons could increase the agreed-upon fixed price by up to 30%.
Although the formal signing of the contract—which will continue until 2029—has not yet taken place, the 19-year-old will have a medical in the coming days.
The precocious midfielder is said to prefer a move to Madrid over any other club, despite having a number of other suitors, including Premier League champions Manchester City. The Spanish club has been in negotiations with Dortmund for several weeks and has shown their interest in the player.
Bellingham will join a number of quality midfielders already on the Santiago Bernabeu roster, including Eduardo Camavinga (20), Aurélien Tchouaméni (23), and Federico Valverde (24). Not to mention seasoned players Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who are anticipated to both sign one-year contract extensions in an effort to add to the four Champions League titles they have already shared with the team.
The Englishman joined BVB from his hometown team Birmingham City in 2019 for €25 million, and he has made significant progress since then. In his four years at the club, he has made 132 appearances and most recently won the Bundesliga Player of the Season award as the Black and Yellows came just short of winning their first championship since the 2011–12 campaign. In the meanwhile, Madrid will now concentrate their efforts on replacing the departing Karim Benzema this summer, with Kai Havertz of Chelsea and Harry Kane of Tottenham being the top candidates on their shortlist.
