Real Madrid forward expected to reject chance to join Man United this summer

According to a rumour, Real Madrid is prepared to begin contract negotiations with breakthrough center-back Raul Asencio. Since Antonio Rudiger and reserve option Jesus Vallejo were the team’s only recognized defenders due to Eder Militao’s second ACL injury and David Alaba’s ongoing fitness fight, Asencio, 21, has been catapulted into the spotlight this season. Asensio, who has now made four appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, has started with Rudiger and helped inspire three straight clean sheets in La Liga to edge Barcelona closer to the top of the rankings.

While Asencio’s current contract expires in 2026, Fabrizio Romano points out that Madrid is already preparing to extend it and give him a well-earned pay increase in recognition of his success. At season’s end, AS anticipates that proposition. With a €50 million (£41.4 million) release clause in his current contract, Madrid is not in a rush, and Asencio is content to wait while he concentrates on making a name for himself in the starting lineup.

Real Madrid may sell Raul Asencio with a buyback clause

Asencio’s breakthrough performances, particularly his debut under Ancelotti against Osasuna, have led many to believe that a swift contract renewal is imminent. His impressive displays have convinced the Madrid hierarchy that they have uncovered a central defender capable of making a lasting impact at the club.

However, while discussions have taken place, the club has communicated that they will wait until the end of the season to negotiate a new contract. While the player’s camp remains open to a review before the season ends, both parties have agreed to wait for the summer to finalize the terms. The intention is clear: Asencio will have a place in the first-team squad for next season, and his renewal will reflect his new status within the squad.
