Due to reports that AC Milan has pulled out of the contest, Real Madrid seems to be in a strong position to recruit Franco Mastantuono right now. As per Real Madrid Confidencial reports, the Italian team has made the decision to withdraw from negotiations, giving Los Blancos a better chance to sign the young player.

Notably, Real Madrid attempted to sign Mastantuono during the summer transfer window. It was tough for any club to pursue the trade at the time since River Plate was unwilling to let him go and insisted on exercising his €45 million release clause.

Real Madrid was quite close to closing a deal but finally chose to wait. Instead of jumping into an expensive investment right away, club president Florentino Perez took a more measured approach, keeping an eye on the player’s development.

Mastantuono has not recently produced outstanding performances at River Plate; thus, this cautious choice has turned out to be the perfect one. His market value is still at about €15 million, and his development has not progressed as anticipated.

Next summer may be a pivotal time for River Plate to cash in on him, since his contract expires in December 2026. Real Madrid might now bargain for a far more reasonable price, possibly landing him for €20–25 million, considering the current situation.

Several elite European clubs had first expressed interest in Mastantuono, but as time went on, those interest levels declined. Since he hasn’t performed as well as expected, the enthusiasm for his possible transfer has subsided.

According to Italian reports, AC Milan is no longer in the running. The fact that Mastantuono has already initiated negotiations with Real Madrid seems to be the cause. With luck, the Spanish powerhouses might finalize the deal for a lot less than River Plate had originally asked for.

A good young midfield player might be acquired by Real Madrid without going over budget now that AC Milan is out of the running. In comparison to what was needed only a few months ago, they may add another talented player to their team at a significantly lower cost if they act quickly.
