Real Madrid is gradually coming to the conclusion that they have little chance of acquiring Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham
According to The Athletic, Los Blancos think they can’t compete with Liverpool and Manchester City, two of the biggest names in the Premier League, who are in the lead for Bellingham. Die Borussen have put a price tag of about €150 million for him due to his ascent to prominence as one of Europe’s top young midfielders.
This summer, the 19-year-old is expected to leave Signal Iduna Park, and Dortmund is preparing for a bidding war. Bellingham has been a target for Liverpool for months after they identified him as the next big acquisition they needed to bolster their midfield.
Man City is trying to convince Bellingham to move to the Etihad Stadium by using their financial resources. Los Blancos will pursue Bellingham, but they must persuade him personally, as they did with Aurelien Tchouameni last summer, in the face of competition from other European heavyweights. Even while the sources claim Madrid no longer has an advantage in the transfer race, the current situation suggests otherwise.
The Premier League table now has Jurgen Klopp’s team, who are 10th overall, in a dire situation. If they don’t make it to the Champions League, their financial situation might suffer greatly. Bellingham will want to play frequently in the competition, but that is far from guaranteed at Anfield at the moment.
City was recently accused of breaking the Financial Fair Play regulations, which could have serious consequences down the road, including expulsion from the Premier League. Given that Toni Kroos and Luka Modric’s contracts expire in the summer, Madrid may benefit since they are looking to bolster their midfield.
