Reece James is reportedly interested in moving to the Santiago Bernabeu, where Real Madrid is looking to improve that position
James is reportedly one of Los Blancos’ top objectives for the summer as they look to replace Dani Carvajal, according to Diario AS.
This season, Carvajal has shown that he is losing the speed and agility he once possessed, and at the age of 31, Real are considering alternatives to the Spaniard.
Additionally, according to Diario, James is the right back Real wants, despite having previously mentioned players like Davide Calabria, Juan Foyth, and Joao Cancelo as options.
Since making his first team debut in 2019, the 23-year-old has been one of Chelsea’s most crucial players, and the club acknowledged this by offering him a six-year, £250,000 per week extension back in September. James has lost 18 games due to injury since signing that extension, which has worried Blues supporters who are hoping that his absence won’t become more frequent in the future.
Real may have some confidence if they decide to move for James because they have experience signing Chelsea players, having signed Thibaut Courtois in 2018 and Eden Hazard in 2019. However, given James’ age, importance to Chelsea, the length of his contract, and in some ways his injury history, it may be difficult for them to bring him to Spain.
