Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa has dropped summer signing Álvaro Carreras from the starting lineup on several occasions this season, citing the defender’s poor attitude as the primary reason.

Arbeloa Refuses to Tolerate Carreras’s Attitude, Benches Him Again

The Spanish left-back joined Real Madrid last summer as part of the club’s defensive reinforcements. Carreras impressed early under former coach Xabi Alonso, showing promise and energy.

However, his lack of defensive discipline soon became a glaring weakness, and injuries further disrupted his progress.

The second half of the season has turned into a nightmare for Carreras. He has failed to build a working relationship with Arbeloa, who took over from Alonso.

According to Spanish outlet El Mundo, Arbeloa has lost patience with the young full-back and repeatedly left him out of the starting eleven due to unacceptable behaviour.

While the report does not specify the exact incidents, it makes clear that Arbeloa refuses to ignore conduct he deems inappropriate. The coach stands firm on his decision, regardless of Carreras’s talent or potential.

Carreras is not alone in his frustration. Veteran defender Dani Carvajal also feels mistreated by Arbeloa and plans to leave the club when the season ends.

The report suggests Arbeloa prefers praising established stars in press conferences rather than supporting homegrown players, creating tension inside the dressing room.

For Carreras, the damaged relationship with his manager comes at a crucial stage. Real Madrid are already out of the title race, and the club expects a major summer rebuild.

The young Spaniard now hopes for a managerial change to revive his struggling career at the Bernabeu.
