Real Madrid is “furious” about their crushing 4-0 loss to fierce rivals Barcelona, and they have begun the process of replacing manager Carlo Ancelotti. Xabi Alonso is the main target. Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski all scored goals as Barcelona dominated at the Bernabeu, putting Madrid to the sword.

Ancelotti appeared helpless as he watched his team get torn apart, and now that Spanish publication Sport reported “disappointment” with the way the campaign has unfolded despite the acquisition of superstar Kylian Mbappe, his head may be on the line.  The way the heartbreaking loss was handled has raised questions about Ancelotti’s future in the Real Madrid dugout.

Real Madrid make Xabi Alonso top target to replace Carlo

According to a source, club president Florentino Perez has selected a Liverpool legend to usher in a new era, ending Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti’s partnership. Florentino Perez, the club president, is very angry with Ancelotti’s handling of the season’s opening stretch, according to Spanish publication Sport.

Ancelotti allegedly “demanded” that left-back Ferland Mendy’s contract be extended, but the club wasn’t eager to comply because of the player’s age (29), injury history, and other factors. In September, Mendy agreed to a two-year extension. One of the main issues raised by Perez and Real Madrid executives was Ancelotti’s failure to integrate Kylian Mbappe into a winning squad. As a result, it is said that Perez has “selected” Xabi Alonso, the manager of Bayer Leverkusen and a legend of Liverpool, to succeed Ancelotti.
