Real Madrid are planning a busy summer transfer window, and part of that plan involves pushing one current squad member towards the exit door.
Dani Ceballos Told He Can Leave Bernabeu in Transfer Window
According to Blancos insider Jorge C Picon, the player the club wants out is midfielder Dani Ceballos.
The Spanish midfielder is currently sidelined with a muscular injury. However, even before his latest fitness setback, Ceballos struggled to secure regular minutes on the pitch.
Despite his technical ability, he faces immense competition for places in Real Madrid’s star-studded engine room.
This season, Ceballos has managed only four starts in La Liga. With the likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of him in the pecking order, first-team opportunities have been hard to come by.
The club’s hierarchy plans to invest in another midfielder once the summer window opens.
With new signings on the horizon, the need to free up space in the squad—and on the wage bill—becomes a priority. As a result, the former Arsenal loanee now finds himself surplus to requirements.
Ceballos’ contract at the Bernabéu runs until 2027, giving him another year left on his deal. However, the club clearly wants him to move on.
This is not the first time they have tried to facilitate his departure. During a recent transfer window, Ceballos had a move to Marseille all set to go through.
However, he rejected the opportunity to join the French side at the last minute, opting to stay and fight for his place.
That decision did not lead to more playing time, and the situation has not improved.
Looking ahead, there is one certainty regarding his future. If Ceballos does leave Madrid this summer, he would not hesitate to join one specific club: Real Betis.
The midfielder came through the ranks at Betis, and he reportedly holds a strong desire to return to his former side.
A move back to the Benito VillamarÃn would appeal to him without a second thought. Whether Betis can strike a deal with Madrid this time around remains to be seen.
